WE ARE ALL THE SAME BUT DIFFERENT: A YOUTH-GROUP DIALOGUE FOR TEENS
This book highlights conversations among young students and friends who want to make a change in the world. Their families come from different parts of the world. They share their ideas about treating others with respect, compassion, and love.
The book makes the point – as its title reads – ‘We are all the same but different.’ They discuss that while individuals may have different religions, ethnic backgrounds, cultures, beliefs, personal traits, characteristics, etc., all people are the same and equal as they belong to the human family with the same needs and desires.
They decide they want to work on diverse causes to improve life at the local, state, national and global level. They want to communicate positions to elected officials and newspapers (the media) and help stop wars and violence to save lives. They realize the importance of protecting free speech and the equality of each person. They understand that rights (like liberty and freedom) are endowed by the ‘Creator’ and not by a government. They talk about how less government spending and taxation will help individuals and families.
One of the final chapters in the book talks about how COVID-19 changed the lives of people all over the world and children want to go back to the way it used to be.
This group of classmates and friends earnestly wants to contribute in whatever way they can to make the world a better place. They talk about “The Golden Rule” – “Treat every human being as you would want to be treated.” They want others to band together to spread this message so we can all live in a peaceful and harmonious world.

NEW BOOK AIMS TO INSPIRE YOUTH TO BE ‘CITIZENS OF THE WORLD’
Hallmark of Book Focuses on “The Golden Rule”
(June 27, 2023) Deborah K. Smarth, author of America’s Lost Opportunity: Stolen Victories 2012 (2013, 2015 editions) and 9/11: How America Changed, has written a new book aimed at middle grade students (11 to 14-year old). Titled “We Are All the Same but Different,” the book has been launched by Doveline Press and is available for purchase through Barnes and Noble.
“Now more than ever, our youth needs to understand liberty, freedom, equality, free speech, the Constitution, civic participation, government structure and process, and the law of love,” said Smarth. “The youth of today is the hope for the future. The concepts discussed in this book emulate actions that can be taken to make our nation and the world a better place.”
One of the book’s hallmarks is the promotion of “The Golden Rule” – “Treat every human being as you would want to be treated.” “My husband’s commitment and promotion of ‘The Golden Rule’ motivated me to write this book. A world that follows this principle would be a much better place,” states Smarth. The group of classmates and friends who converse in this book want others to band together to spread the message so all people can all live in a peaceful and harmonious world.

The book makes the point – as its title reads – ‘We are all the same but different.’ The youth who dialogue underscore that while individuals may have different religions, ethnic backgrounds, cultures, beliefs, etc., all people are the same as they belong to the human family. All people are equal regardless of their backgrounds, their characteristics, and traits.
The young individuals illustrate their desire to work on causes that help others at the local, state, federal, and global levels. The book aims at promoting civic participation by the youth of today: Stopping unending wars and violence; communicating positions on important public policies via media and elected officials; promoting free speech; protecting life, liberty and freedom; acknowledging the equality of each person; advocating for less government taxation and spending as well as overzealous mandates; freedom in making personal decisions without government interference, and making “The Golden Rule” the guiding principle.
The book is dedicated to the author’s mother and husband.
A recent, past executive of a non-profit network (focused on entrepreneurship and small business ownership), Smarth holds a master’s degree in national politics and policy from Columbia University in the City of New York. She has taught political science at the university level and has published articles, letters-to-the-editor, and op-ed pieces on diverse public policy issues. Over the years, Smarth has held private and public sector positions, and is now setting her objectives on humanitarian issues and promoting “The Golden Rule” to advance her husband’s initiative.
9/11: How America Changed
A Citizen’s Account (2018)
This book provides unique facts and insights about the changing character of America since the 9/11 tragedy. It presents interesting details concerning the events and occurrences surrounding the 9/11 investigation, that are not part of the official government narrative. It documents how media disclosure of newsworthy public policy issues is biased, oftentimes precluding facts about significant developments from ever receiving coverage.
The book traces the changing pulse of American government in a post-9/11 era, catalyzed by the War on Terror. As the book illustrates, 9/11 was the turning point for pre-emptive wars, a drastic change in military tradition, and America’s overzealous involvement in regional conflicts abroad; includes insights concerning America’s allies and foes. The manuscript delves into the nature of targeted drone strikes or “assassinations” which have simultaneously killed civilians in foreign countries.
The book shows how the U.S. Government foments national security “blowback” through the continuation of various military and foreign policy entanglements since 9/11, further catalyzing the rise of radical Islamic terrorism.
The book discusses extraordinary renditions, torture, Guantanamo, and “Whistleblowers” who have put the principles of morality, the U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights over self-preservation. The book highlights topics about NSA surveillance of citizens through metadata collection, encroachment of free speech and dissent, the erosion of civil liberties, the rise of police state tactics and the increasing influence of an oligarchy.
The book illustrates America’s economic stagnation due to a confluence of factors including the rising national debt, monetary, government taxation and spending policies and the widening gap in wealth distribution. Occupy Wall Street and the growing dissatisfaction with “crony capitalism” are referenced.
It is a call-to-action for every American citizen to educate themselves about these matters that are not discussed by the electronic and print corporate mainstream media. The book urges the reader to turn this knowledge into real collaborative action to change the world for the better, revitalizing the core principles of an American Republic.

America’s Lost Opportunity:
Stolen Victories, 2nd Edition (2015)
Will the 2016 presidential election prove more of the same? This second edition book provides some interesting insights and facts just as it does for the 2012 presidential election during the GOP nomination process; facts and occurrences that will make you double down!”
Transparency? Fair elections? Truth in media? Who controls? Oligarchy? A government for and by the people? A come-from-behind Warren G. Harding victory?
Former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney won the nomination in Tampa at the GOP national convention. But the last standing Republican presidential candidate to Romney, Dr. Ron Paul, had an army of grassroots delegates headed to the national convention.
Republican primaries and caucuses began in early 2012, followed by Republican state conventions; presidential candidate Congressman Ron Paul (R-Texas) had solid, consistent support. But alleged fraud in certain early primary/caucus contests, deceptive and unfair practices at state GOP conventions, and the mainstream media’s dismissive attitude about Paul’s presidential bid certainly impeded his candidacy. At many state GOP conventions where delegates to the national convention were selected, Ron Paul amassed delegate majorities.
While these victories were won based on the rules in play and his number of delegates swelled, subsequent challenges arose. At the national convention, the party leadership and formal structure actually de-credentialed Paul delegates, preventing Ron Paul’s name from being put in nomination.
“I’m convinced that you never give up liberties to be safe. I think you’re less safe
when you give up your liberties.”
-Dr. Ron Paul
America’s Lost Opportunity
Stolen Victories 2012 (2013)
In the early part of 2014, a few months after the first edition of America’s Lost Opportunity was first published, Michael Nystrom–the founder of www.DailyPaul.com–posted a comment stating, “Thumbs up to a good book.” After many years of existence, The Daily Paul, which attracted millions of viewers, was succeeded by PopularLiberty.com. DailyPaul.com was a website dedicated to restoring constitutional government, promoting a community of free thinking individuals who shared opinions on the major political issues of the day.
Its objective focused on the promotion of freedom, liberty and peace.
“Real patriotism – A willingness to challenge the government when it’s wrong.”
